Interesting idea, we'll have to think about it and what the tradeoffs would be. For example, every new setting makes the interface slightly more complex and can result in more support questions. The code to create timelapse, keograms, and startrails would need to be modified since it currently assumes all images are the same type. How often do you want to capture daytime images? Does it not work to capture png during the day? |

For my use case, I'd love to be able to have different image settings for day and night time.
I have my camera taking 16-bit PNG images during the night for scientific observations, which obviously take a long time to process and limits the frequency with which new images can be captured.
During the day I don't save any data, so it would be nice to switch to JPG for quicker processing and more frequent image capture for a more up-to-date live view.
