Actually I did end up finding this setting but the sidebar size when expanded is too small so still using the chrome.css implementation

This is easy enough to implement individually by copy-pasting the code in the function-sidebery-autohide.css to your userChrome.css, but it would be nice to have this be properly baked into the UI with a toggle.
