Contributing to IntelliGPT

First and foremost, thank you for considering contributing to IntelliGPT! We appreciate your interest in improving this IntelliJ IDEA plugin, and we value the time and effort you're willing to invest.

The following guidelines will help you get started and ensure a smooth contribution process.

Code of Conduct

By participating in this project, you are expected to uphold our Code of Conduct. Please read and follow it to maintain a positive and inclusive environment for all contributors.

Getting Started

  1. Fork the repository: Start by forking the IntelliGPT repository to your GitHub account
  2. Clone the fork: Clone your forked repository to your local machine
  3. Create a branch: Create a new branch for your changes. Use a descriptive branch name that reflects the purpose of your changes
  4. Make your changes: Implement the changes or features you'd like to contribute. Remember to follow the coding style and guidelines of the project
  5. Test your changes: Make sure your changes work as expected and don't introduce new bugs. Perform manual testing and, if applicable, add or update tests to cover your changes
  6. Commit your changes: Commit your changes to your branch. Use descriptive and meaningful commit messages that explain the purpose of your changes
  7. Push your changes: Push your changes to your forked repository on GitHub
  8. Create a pull request: Create a pull request from your forked repository to the original IntelliGPT repository. In the pull request description, provide a clear and concise explanation of the changes you've made, why they're necessary, and any related issue numbers

Review Process

Once you've submitted your pull request, the IntelliGPT maintainers will review your changes. They may provide feedback and request changes to your code. If your pull request is accepted, your changes will be merged into the main repository, and you'll be added as a contributor.
