June 2024 - EV sales stagnated in Sweden

June saw plugin EVs take 56.5% share in Sweden, down YoY from 59.2% in June 2023. BEV share fell YoY, while PHEV share was flat, and both lost volume. Overall auto volume was 25,401 units, down 10% YoY. The Tesla Model Y was the best selling BEV.
June’s result saw combined plugin EVs take 56.5% share in Sweden, with full battery-electrics (BEVs) at 35.9% and plugin hybrids (PHEVs) at 20.6%. These shares compare YoY against 59.

Agreed. Subsidizing private profits is counterproductive and keeps prices artificially high. Instead, governments should make polluting cars more difficult to sell and operate.

Only when selling polluting cars becomes extremely hard, will automakers be serious about electric cars, since it's better to sell electric cars than nothing at all.

I agree, traditional OEMs don't want to sell EVs, so the (theoretical) people representatives (the government) should be serious about the issue. That's why I agree on taxing the sell of non-EVs.

Good points - at this point taxing the pollution and climate emissions of ICE vehicles is a better way to go.
