Meta issue that organizes items needed for a platform for people leaving Ukraine at the moment.
Feel free to edit as you see the need.

An instance of fedi-trustroots for the purpose is deployed to https://refugees.openHospitality.network

People who have access to OHN accounts, if you needed to contact them: wiki

Consider adding your @ name if you are working on sth to avoid duplicating each other's work.

MVP

Once done, we (@mariha) will work with main refugees helping NGOs in Poland to unload them and have people registered / find a place to stay here instead of by contacting them.

At this point we can broadcast info about the platform

Beyond MVP

  • texts translations, at a minimum to Ukrainian, Polish and Russian

    • set up translations server
    • translate to Ukrainian
    • translate to Russian
    • translate to German
    • translate to Romanian
  • reuse circles for type of help being offered: accommodation, legal help, translations, …

  • add NGOs as Points of Interest on a dedicated layer in OpenStreetMap - accessible for everyone, without logging in, displayed in our app

    • experiment with what makes sense and how to add points
    • request data about organizations - or use data from uchodzcy.info map
    • add that data to OSM or
    • train / document how to add new org to the map
    • document + possibly help NGOs embed OSM map with that layer on, on their web pages
  • move data from the pad to the platform

  • move data from the Hospitality Map to the platform

  • maybe move data from Refugees Welcome to the platform (currently hosts are not displayed)

To consider:

  • how much work would it be?
    • support email
  • what else needs to be done for people to sign up?
  • what if many people register? What are the scalability limits?
  • devops
    • to have monitoring? grafana, google analytics, ...
    • to deploy changes easily?
    • to work with TR upstream repo?
    • master branch autodeployed to staging
  • other:
    • fediverse changes (Lennart & Chagai) - cors etc - move to a branch?
    • domain name
    • SparkPost plans - when free plan is exceeded mails will be silently not-sent
  • anything else?
