Welcome to the Smush-Material-Research discussions section! The following guidelines are to make sure discussions are relevant to material and rendering research for Smash Ultimate and helpful to the community. This is not an exhaustive list, so feel free to post if something feels relevant even if it isn't listed below. I'll let you know if I feel the discussion is unproductive or off topic and try and point people to the right place.

Please use discussions to

• Ask questions about in game rendering that aren't covered in the documentation or website.
• Suggest changes or improvements to the existing documentation.
• Get help with researching materials or other rendering related topics for Smash Ultimate.
• Get help with contributing to the generated data in Value Dumps as well as the tools and scripts used to generate it.
• Get help contributing to the website.
• Ask questions about how to implement rendering techniques found in game in other applications and tools. The code in ssbh_wgpu can also serve as a useful reference.
• Help other users with any of the above. I might not be able to get to every question. This is a community effort done for free, so please be respectful of everyone's schedules, real life obligations, etc.

Please do not use discussions to

• Get help on making a mod. Please keep discussions related to in game rendering in general rather than specific mods. For example, discussing "baking ambient lighting" is far more useful to the community than asking "why does the lighting not work on mod X over stage Y". If you need help troubleshooting a mod, ask on gamebanana or the modding discord.
• Report bugs in an application like SSBH Editor or ssbh_data_json. Please post a github issue on the appropriate github repository.
• Get help with using another application like SSBH editor. These discussions belong on the appropriate repository for that application.
• Discuss rendering in other games. This repository is dedicated specifically to Smash Ultimate rather than previous games like Smash 4 or unrelated titles.
