The video won't start

I have had this problem recently, a month or more, when I load the subtitles and the video, the video won't start. I try with the SPACE key, with the arrow on the video preview, but nothing happens. The video won't start.

I use the latest LAV filters codec 0.79.20 and for the preview video engine, I use DirectShow. Everything is like it was maybe a month or a bit more ago, but the video won't start unless I restart SE. Close and open it, then it works without any problem.

Why this is happening?

DirectShow is very dependent on what is installed on the local computer - like codecs and windows updates.
I think SE/DirectShow only works for me with older LAV filters versions (sorry, I do not remember when this happened for me).

I mostly just use mpv.

I use LAV filters 0.79.2 all the time. I didn't change anything, this is the first and last version of LAV filters I've ever used. I didn't use any older version. Before that, I used K-Lite Codec for years, even with SE, but then I once had some problems, I can't remember what, it is maybe related to the soft-coded subtitles problems. So, I understand what you want to say, but I haven't changed anything in the meantime. I have these problems, the video part of SE is dead. Not always, I must say, but it happens, especially when I install the new beta versions. It is not the end of the world to restart SE, but I wonder how it works without any problem when I close and open it again.

If it helps, I ALWAYS have this problem with the video that won't start when I download a new beta version. Then I restart the program and it works. It seems that something in the program does some 'update' and it works more or less normally after that.
