password protection for rutorrent frontend not working

As per guideline https://github.com/crazy-max/docker-rtorrent-rutorrent#populate-htpasswd-files I populated rutorrent.htpasswd file from container shell but when I restart the container to apply the changes the web front end stop loading and chrome complaints about Too Many Redirects
