Staff has said they won't be supporting video sending for bots. There is ongoing dialog tracking custom statuses for bots here: #1160 (comment) |

@ethrx There’s been several comments about this from Discord staff in the Discord API server: https://discord.com/channels/81384788765712384/381887113391505410/697716600945639474 https://discord.com/channels/81384788765712384/381887113391505410/498217723462156298 |

That permission is only there for completeness so it isn't missing permissions, bots cannot use video even if they have the permission. |

while it's a useless permission, it probably shouldn't just disappear on the OAuth page |

Should this be closed for inactivity? |

I believe it is still actively desired. |

Just joining in to express my support for such a feature to be added. I think it would greatly expand the possibilities that Discord bots currently have, especially when it comes to user interaction. I'm currently having to use a normal Discord account for video output which is video controlled by a separate bot. Just hoping something good can be done with it at some point. |

As you can see from the referenced conversations with staff, they currently have no plans and do not believe that others will be able to properly implement it presently. There is no need to come in here and voice your support of the feature. They know people want it. |

I've been prototyping something similar to this with DiscordPHP but still waiting on some of ReactPHP filesystem's dependencies to get updated to support PHP 8. It should be possible to do it directly within a bot without going through discord's API, which is the best possible scenario right now until Discord decides that this is something they wish to pursue. https://sergeyzhuk.me/2017/07/17/reatcphp-http-server/ (not mine, but a similar article) has a nice tutorial for how to do this already, so on a Linux system it would be trivial to spawn a child process and then share a link to the server:port with a user. |

would be super nice to have this, they added voice so why not video. |

I want this feature very much. As a developer, I think it would be easy to implement similar to a webcam. It frustrates me that I need to use a second account to stream party games, when this could be done by a bot. I could allow my users to remote activate jackbox games with commands. Please add the functionality |

@OGZamasu they have previously stated there are challenges with implementing such a thing - see #1995 (comment) |

@TwilightZebby Regardless, I think its a lazy response, and I still want support for it in the future. They can say they won't do it. I can still say I want it. Squeaky wheel gets the oil. |

Handling video buffers won't be something easy and require a lot of effort outside. And it may also be a problem to handle a large number of buffers at the end of Discord. But not impossible though, maybe in future sometime. |

this feature could be really good, but alternative solutions to this exist, Discord can't be used for everything you ever wanted |

Haven't Discord's Video capabilties stabilized? |

My solution: Activities. Why don't you let the dev stream an html document or an website, the rest can be handled by the devs |

The API is already there, but for users. Why is it so complicated? Discord bots uses the same API endpoints as users. The only difference is the token we use. |

I know this is far fetched but there's so many things we could do with that.
The question is: When will bots be able to use the custom status endpoint?
