Install Pre-Release Version of the Salesforce Extensions for VS Code

Pre-Release Extensions

The IDE Experience team has been hard at work upgrading some of our larger dependencies to their latest major versions. Since this work has a broader impact, we'd love for our Salesforce Developer community to test out these changes before they go live.

Moving forward, we'll be publishing pre-release versions of the Salesforce Extensions for releases with broader product impact 🎉

Note: This is an early release candidate and may contain issues. If any issues are discovered, please add them to the discussion thread for this release below.

To install the Pre-Release Extensions:

1. Open VS Code (or VS Code Insiders if you'd like to keep your testing environment separate)
2. Download all of the .vsix files attached to Pre-Release V55.10.2022082401
3. Click on the Marketplace tab from the left side Activity Bar
4. Select the three dots in the top right hand corner of the Extensions view and select 'Install from VSIX'

5. Select all of the .vsix files you just downloaded - there should be 10 in total
6. Wait for all of the extensions to show 'Reload Required' (skip SLDS Validator - not included)

7. Select any of the Reload Required buttons. You should see your IDE reload at this point
8. Open your IDE and confirm the updated version for all of the extensions is v55.10.2022082401. This can be found by clicking on any of the Extensions and searching for the Extension Version

To uninstall the Pre-Release Extensions:

1. Click on the Marketplace tab from the left side Activity Bar
2. Search for 'Salesforce' in the Extension View
3. Click on each extension in the official Salesforce Extension Pack and select 'Install another version' from the drop down menu

4. Select the latest extension release version
5. Repeat for each extension :)

• We fixed an issue with an error message for the SObject refresh process being incorrectly displayed. (PR #4353)
• We re-fixed an issue where making only a case change when renaming an Apex class caused an error. (PR #4362)
