After presenting the GEM Building Taxonomy (v3.1) at the AGITHAR workshop, some colleagues working at UCL on tsunami risk assessment provided me with the following feedback which could be used to enhance the taxonomy:
Ground floor hydrodynamics (Attribute 9): the hydrodynamics characteristics of upper floors might also be needed, in the case that the tsunami flow depth exceeds the ground floor height.
An attribute that describes the urban density environment (in particular from the coastline to the building and directly in line/perpendicular to the incoming flow with the building) may also be useful, as the tsunami loading can be affected by other buildings which the tsunami waves may have passed by, to reach that building.
We can reach out to colleagues at UCL (Tiziana Rossetto's group) for further discussions if/when there are plans to take this feedback into account.
