Tabbing out and selection issue?

In vim I use esc e a or esc l a to tab out. In helix, when I use those I am back in insert mode with a selection that I don't want. How do I tab out of a character or word without retaining a selection?

FIgured it out. The way to tab out a single character is esc+l+i

Use caps if you have mapped caps to escape
