Update only in buffer write?

At the moment, I get updates in normal mode. I know there's the option update_in_insert to get updates as you type. What I want is the other extreme end. I want to only get updates when I save the buffer. Is this possible?

You can use DIAGNOSTICS_ON_SAVE method, see doc/BUILTIN_CONFIG.md#diagnostics-performance

No, you can override any sources with with function, if the documentation lists a source's method as diagnostics_on_save, it means the default behavior of that source

AFAIK, null-ls uses separate diagnostic namespaces for each source, so for this option, you need to set it per-source

Right, we don't have a way to set this by default. You could easily create a table of diagnostics sources, then iterate over them to override each source's method.
