Add Search Capabilities to Hacker News

Feature request

We would like to add search functionality to the existing Hacker News (HN) document loader in Langchain. This new feature will allow users to query the HN database based on several criteria:

• Title: Find articles with specific keywords.
• Author: Retrieve articles by a specific author.
• Time: Access recent articles from a defined timeframe.
• Topic: Search by category or content topic.

Motivation

Currently, there is a Hacker News document loader which loads articles from the main page or comments from a post, but adding search functionality would greatly enhance its usefulness. Many developers and users of Langchain could benefit from a more tailored method to find information from Hacker News, as it’s a useful source for tech-related discussions and articles.

Proposal (If applicable)

We are four students from the University of Toronto working to develop this feature and plan to submit a pull request by mid-November. This integration will enhance Langchain by providing users with the ability to easily search and access relevant articles from Hacker News.
