Can't drag files into some apps on another computer using Universal Control

1. Connect to Macs using Universal Control.
2. Drag a file (e.g. a screenshot) from one computer into a browser window on the other window (e.g. into a GitHub comment).

This fails without any error or warning. I guess it's not surprising, but so much of Universal Control is seamless (when it's not completely broken) that this is a point of friction that keeps catching me. This seems like something Apple could fix, e.g. by copying the files to /tmp to give them a path that can be dropped into an app, or perhaps that Chrome could fix.

A simple workaround is to drag the relevant files into a temporary folder yourself.
