Before the newfangled GM drivers, there were windows drivers that used an mt-32 patchset for OPL2!
And there are midis that were composed for this.
here's one of them https://www.vgmpf.com/Wiki/index.php?title=Ballad_2 along with a recording. Notably, this midi uses the non existent in GM "Warm Bell" patch.
if the bank is extracted from that old sound blaster pro driver, and included here, it could playback those files as intended.
btw, that mt-32 soundfont is not accurate. :) but it's kinda close. and it handles those midi files decently.
