Barcode Scanner won't open

When I try to open the barcode scanner I get the error "Configuration error" (which is labelled as "next to impossible" in the code), what is the problem here? It did work before, we did not change the NativeScript version or the nativescript-barcodescanner version.
NativeScript v8.5.0
nativescript-barcodescanner v5.0.1
working on MacBook Pro M1 using a Redmi Phone with Android version 12
