Lualine breaks when configuring and then running Lazy reload lualine

I'm trying a basic workflow for configuring my lualine:

1. I edit some section, and :w
2. I run Lazy reload lualine.nvim

Expected: new config shows

Actual: Lualine flickers between new config and previous config

Am I perhaps doing the workflow in a non-intended way? The only thing that works for me is quitting neovim and reopening it

Instead of reloading the plugin try require('lualine').refresh() see if that works.
