Dear contributors, remember to use this template when you create your proposal. Bear in mind also that the prerequisite task is mandatory. Applications without a link to your PR won't be considered. |

Dear contributors, Google has just announced the projects for this summer. We asked for 8 projects but finally got 5 slots, and we will work with 5 contributors (Showcase performance of PyTorch Image Models (timm) with OpenVINO, Add OpenVINO support to John Snow Labs Spark NLP, Industrial meter reading with OpenVINO, Anomaly Segmentation Metrics for Anomalib, Add ensembling methods for tiling to Anomalib). The competition was relatively high (we got 38 applications in total and, e.g., 6 proposals for "Showcase performance of PyTorch Image Models (timm) with OpenVINO"), so we had to make a difficult decision about what contributor we would like to continue the work with. So if you didn't get in, it doesn't mean your application was bad. Even if the second or third application is very good, the winner takes all, as there can be just one contributor per project. Moreover, your project might be in these 3 slots, which Google didn't assign us. Some of your PRs are still open in the OpenVINO Notebooks repository. We're trying to review and merge them as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we have limited human resources, so we work in a FIFO way. Thank you for your patience. If you are still interested in open-source and OpenVINO, you can continue your work by contributing to our OpenVINO repositories. We also encourage you to join the Intel Software Innovator Program for Edge, where you can earn some rewards. Please visit the program page to learn more. Concluding, thank you all for your engagement, your PRs to the OpenVINO Notebooks repository, and your submissions to GSoC. Hope to see you next year! P.S. Congratulations to all accepted contributors :) |

Dear community, Although Google Summer of Code 2023 is over, there is a new opportunity to support OpenVINO development (before GSoC 2024). As the toolkit is an open-source project, we welcome external contributions all the time. OpenVINO development team has just improved the experience, so now you can find all the easy-to-start issues in one place, and there is a dedicated team to support you as an external contributor. Then, if you want to take part in a great journey of open-source development, please consider joining OpenVINO Toolkit project! List of all good first issues: Contribution guide: How to start: |
