Release - v1.50.2 - Cosmo Theme Dark Mode (logo) not working

Since we updated the release for our client to 1.50.2 - the dark mode is not working anymore.
We reverted back to 1.49.x due to this issue - #2905
But as we update the dark mode image is not loaded anymore. There is nothing that was changed in the .env
Is this due to some recent changes with the theme?
The settings we have in the .env

PWP__BRAND__LIGHT_LOGO: LOGOURL-LIGHT.png
PWP__BRAND__DARK_LOGO: LOGOURL-DARK.png

Extra info - we are using the Cosmo theme:

PWP__THEME: "Cosmo"

• Test with default theme then it works
  - In the Cosmo theme the Dark mode will not activate / work

Hrm. Even the theme preview on bootswatch doesn't flip to dark mode automatically. They have a manual toggle which I'd like to avoid. I'll investigate why it broke.
