Updated event failed to save Forbidden [403=Forbidden] #1986
Comments
Is there anything special about this Google series? Do you own it, or has it come from someone else's calendar/organised by someone else? Are you able to edit the item in https://calendar.google.com and save any changes? 📦 If there's nothing obvious, could you apply this hotfix v2.11.0.8.zip which will log the details of the problematic Google Event (see instructions for applying). Once applied, reproduce the error and then upload the log file again. |
This also looks suspiciously similar to this user's case: can you confirm if the visibility of this Event is "Only me"? Can you change it to "Default" and see if the problem goes away? |
I checked and the item visibility was "Public". I changed it to "Default". No change. |
I did. Same problem. Please find the log attached. Thanks BTW I'm not the event owner. It's an invitation received by mail. I'm able to update it. |
OK, I've now identified this is related to the series having been split in Google when "This event and following" is chosen - this is fundamentally incompatible with Outlook, which doesn't have this feature. It's a head scratcher for sure....I think I'd need to work out how to implement the same thing even though Microsoft have never bothered to!

Yep, this is horrible 😵💫 This is also related to #1910 |
This issue has been marked dormant because the last update is at least 30 days ago. If no update is made with the next 7 days, the issue will be closed. |
Any news ? Thanks |
I've put the issue on the backlog to stop it being automatically closed, but it's not something I can look at yet as I need to focus on removing OGCS' dependency on the classic Outlook client first. |
Okay, no worries I shall wait. Thanks |
OGCS Version: v2.11.0.0
Edition: Installed
Sync Direction: O<->G
Bug Description
Every time I sync, I get the subjet error message whatever I do.
"Updated Google event failed to save. Continue ?"
Note that this is an old event (but recurring) dated 8/27/2024.
Apparently the time zone update fails, or is it recurring rule update too ?
I can't figure out.
What is annoying is the pop up to confirm to continue (I have to press "Yes" every time).
Thanks for help.
A config switch to avoid the prompt and continue automatically would be OK, if you don't find the issue.
Regards,
-Pierre
