Zero Work Items returned from the template

Hi!
I was preparing release notes template to work on the build in Azure Pipeline, however I'm facing some issues with listing the Work Items.
The amount of workItems returned from the template is 0, although it's not true.
Here's the output from the test console tool:

I've been stuck with this issue for a while now, and have no ideas of what might be wrong.

How are you using the tasks

• Classic Build
• Classic Release
• YAML
  • Single
  • Or multi stage

In all cases the task returns the WI/CS associated single the last successful release/build/stage (depending on config).

I suspect the issue is the prior build to the one you are running was successful so the next run shows no associated items
