Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

Signal app aparently started the auto-update, but disk space was limited. Update process removed the old version, but the new version failed to install.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Disk space insufficient
  2. Trigger Signal auto-update (no user input)

Expected result

Auto-update shouldn't start if disk space is low.

Actual result

I had Signal Desktop running in the background.
Unexpectedly, had this notice of 'Signal.exe is no longer available' show up, as if the Start menu shorcut was executed. I assume the autoupdate failed. Disk space was very low.

I checked and confirmed that the target of the Start menu shortcut didn't exist anymore.

PS: after I cleared disk space and about 5 minutes have paseed, the update completed. Not sure how that happened, but Signal.exe was again present.
