Sign up form failed but saved email

I entered "Thomas O'Brien" as my name and got an error about the name. I re-submitted the form without the apostrophe but got an error saying that my email has already been used.

Now when I try to update my password I get the "1 error prohibited this user from being saved:
Name is invalid" error again.
