BetterDisplay would like to access files in the Documents folder #3829
-
Why would a tool that tweaks display settings need to access my Documents folder upon launching it for the first time, especially when denying those permissions seem to have no effect on the functionality? It seems odd and intrusive for this tool to ask for that kind of access. |

This might (I think) happen only if the app file is somehow in the Documents folder (?) or in one of the user's folder. You should install the app under /Applications. Normally the app does not need access to the Documents folder so even if it asks for such permissions, you should deny it. The app will save its preferences in user defaults (which is then saved under the user's Library folder by macOS) and the licensing information is under the user's Application Support folder which should be available for the app without a prompt as this is the standard practice. Also: make sure you use a legitimate source to get the app (from this GitHub site) as there might be cracked versions floating out there with who knows what modifications. |
