I'm trying to set-up wezterm via home manager. Currently, this is my configuration:

Nevertheless after switching, and opening wezterm, I'm greeted with the following window:

No background image, and just blocks for letters. What am I missing?

I have exactly the same issue with a very similar NixOS config. It started happening a few days ago.

I can also reproduce this using wezterm --skip-config.

• NixOS 24.11
• Plasma 6.2.4 (Wayland)
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
• NVIDIA driver version 565.77
• My Wezterm config is not managed with home-manager.
• Happens regardless of whether Wezterm's config.wayland setting is set to true or false
• Tried clearing ~/.cache/font_config/* and it doesn't seem to make a difference

I'm happy to provide any other troubleshooting info that I can.

If you can reproduce this using --skip-config, I assume your config somehow fixes the issue?

No. Sorry, I wasn't clear - I was trying to make sure my config wasn't causing the issue. It happens both with and without the --skip-config flag.

Same issue when using nix-darwin and home-manager.

You can fix it (on macOS at least, didn't try linux) by adding this line to your config:

front_end = "WebGpu"

Glad this is solved but here is an issue where this solution was posted a little while ago. Theres a general discussion right now on fixing this within nixpkgs but I don't think the solution is clear yet.
