If you just want the command line tool, then compilation (and download times) can be sped up (qt and OpenGl are not necessary). Exact commands for Ubuntu 14.04, and debian jessie are:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential cmake git libusb-1.0-0-dev

git clone git://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall.git

mkdir ./Heimdall/build
cd ./Heimdall/build

cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DDISABLE_FRONTEND=ON ..
make
sudo cp bin/heimdall /usr/local/bin
