Doubutsu Shogi (Animal Shogi) is a variant of shogi, the Japanese cousin of western chess. It was invented by professional shogi player Madoka Kitao and designed by fellow professional shogi player Maiko Fujita with the goal of encouraging and teaching young children play shogi.
And now you can play chess using Dobutsu Shogi's board and pieces on Pychess.org, Lichess.org and Chess.com!
