First pass of 2024-ing the year in hog stuff

We'd also need to

  • remember what queries I used to make the boundaries make sense
  • add any new products maybe?
  • refresh the graphics?

This would probably be a lot of work, but I'm not sure people will have a lot of fun if we use the same graphics and "achievements" from last year. To avoid having to design new graphics in a short timeframe, can we at least change the names and add more levels?

Here are my suggestions, big thanks to ChatGPT

  • Product Analytics
    • 10 Insights: Insight Seeker
    • 50 insights: Data Explorer
    • 100 insights: Analytics Adventurer
  • FFs
    • 10 FFs: Toggle Master
    • 50 FFs: Control Keeper
    • 100 FFs: Rollout Wrangler
  • Recordings
    • 50 recordings viewed: Playback Pro
    • 100: Session Scout
    • 250: Journey Watcher
  • Experiments
    • 3: Test pilot
    • 10: Variant Visionary
    • 25: Experiment Architect
  • Dashboard
    • 4: Data Conductor
    • 10: Metrics Maestro
    • 25: Visualization Virtuoso
  • Surveys
    • 2: Response Wrangler
    • 5: Feedback Forecaster
    • 10: Poll Pundit

Even though we'd use new names, we could probably keep using the exact same icons we were using last year.

I do think it'd be important to add new queries for Data Warehouse and Data Pipelines - probably related to how many connectors you have in place.

I think we could probably merge this as is for now. I'll be WebAnalytics' support hero next week, so I might have some time to expand on this, I don't think it's that tricky if we can get away with the assets we have, reducing dependency on Lottie.

CC @joethreepwood I might need help with comms if I am to own this :). Are you the right person for this?

My biggest concern here is what @joethreepwood mentioned here: https://github.com/PostHog/product-internal/issues/403#issuecomment-1361124673

Promising results, let's do it again but invest more effort now we know it's worth it

I'm not sure we'll have the time to invest a lot of effort this time. That message was from 2022. How was it in 2023?

I'm definitely the right person for comms. We can sync this in to an email campaign, like last time.

2023 was basically the same. The issue is that it's always Paul, Lottie, and I, and we never get time to invest much effort here. We just end up iterating a tiny bit each year (which is fine, but not going to get us to 😮 overnight)

To help spark joy with this, I think we need to bring it to life more. Short of having @lottiecoxon animate the hogs, is there anything we can do to give this some motion? Even an animated background or raining hogs would help give this some ✨
