OpenCGA -as the rest of OpenCB- project was started by Ignacio Medina at Dr. Joaquin Dopazo group at CIPF (http://bioinfo.cipf.es/). Today OpenCGA is actively developed at Computational Biology Lab at HPC Service (University of Cambridge, UK). The main developers are:
- Ignacio Medina ([email protected]): Software Architect, Bioinformatician and Project Manager (HPC Service, University Cambridge)
- Jacobo Coll ([email protected]): Software Developer (Genomics England)
- Cristina Y. Gonzalez ([email protected]): Software Engineer and HPC Developer (EBI Variation)
- Jose M. Mut ([email protected]): Software Developer (EBI Variation)
Contributors are sorted chronologically.
Computational Genomics department at CIPF is led by Dr. Joaquin Dopazo. He has been a very important contributor to all OpenCB project since the beginning (about 2012-2013). Today he and his team are still playing an important role in both providing ideas and software development. They are also developing BierApp tool for gene and variant prioritization which is likely to be one of the most advanced web applications implemented over OpenCGA. Some people involved are:
- Francisco Salavert ([email protected]): Software Engineer and Web Developer
- Alejandro Aleman ([email protected]): Software Engineer
- Roberto Alonso ([email protected]): Software Engineer
EBI Variation team is led by Dr. Justin Paschall. Since 2014 he has been using and contributing to some OpenCB projects including OpenCGA. His ideas and suggestions have been very important. He is actively involved in developing the Variant Annotation and Big Data storage using MongoBD database. Some people involved are:
- Cristina Y. Gonzalez ([email protected]): Software Engineer
- Jose M. Mut ([email protected]): Software Developer
- F. Javier Lopez ([email protected]): Software Engineer and Bioinformatician
Dr. Stefan Graf is since 2014 a main collaborator and an important contributor. They are actively involved in big data storage and analysis for genomic variant using Hadoop technologies. Some people partially involved:
- Matthias Haimel ([email protected]): Software Engineer and Bioinformatician
OpenCGA is an open source project and it is freely available.
