What is Easy Deposit 2

Easy Deposit 2 (ED2) is a system developed by Oregon State University Libraries and Press (OSULP) to facilitate self deposit of journal articles authored by Oregon State University (OSU) faculty and researchers. OSU authors who are publishing journal articles will receive an invitation email to upload their articles to Easy Deposit 2, then the articles will be processed into ScholarsArchive@OSU and made to researchers worldwide.

Why OSULP develops Easy Deposit 2

ED2 is developed to implement OSU’s Open Access Policy, passed by the OSU Faculty Senate in June 2013. OSULP will use ED2 to request faculty articles and deposit them into ScholarsArchive@OSU, OSU’s institutional repository.

How Easy Deposit 2 works

The ED2 workflow can be represented by the following processing jobs

• Article harvesting: Performs an asynchronous harvest of articles from Web of Science database by institution search and save records in ED2.
• Fetch contact author emails: Fetch contact email(s) from OSU directory and Web of Science article page.
• Email author: Send out email invitation to contact authors with link to upload article to ED2.
• Publish article: After article uploaded to ED2, the author is expect to deposit the article into ScholarsArchive@OSU by clicking the “Publish” button.
• Deposit acknowledge: Contact authors will receive emails indicates the deposit to ScholarsArchive is successful with link to the article in the repository.
